Registration to the Gesher Social Network, a moderated network for Jewish Schools, Students and Teachers around the world, at http://gesher.ning.com is by invitation only, in order to request an invitation the following information should be provided by mail to stsairi[at]gmail.com. The subject line of the mail should read "Gesher student accounts"
The mail should include the following details:
A list including your Name email address, school name, address, email, website address, school principal's contact information
students' screennames, and email addresses
How to set up accounts
Once you receive invitations (can take up to 24 hours), you will be able to allow students to register for the site. Approval of registration should take no longer than 24 hrs. After which you and your students will be able to sign in and start "working"
To encourage a sense of world wide Jewish Community and Identity, to enable students in small communities to link up with others.
To introduce students in Israel to Jewish communities around the world.
To create a project which can cater to participants with varying levels of mastery of the English language.

Blogs can be used in different ways: in order to write about every day life, what they're learning in school, stories etc.
Schools present different aspects of their communities using the text/media and tools of their choice
Various competitions around topics: creating a logo; story writing; comics; animation more...

Possible subjects:
book clubs, our community, village, school, synagogue, institutions, people, holidays and religious festivals, more....
Student work will be posted/embedded/uploaded to the Gesher Network to allow for feedback/conversation/discussion with other participants.

Employ voicethread, as a userfriendly tool, which will allow various forms of asynchronic communication, photo, text, voice, sketch, (possibly video ).
Schools, will upload and describe photos of their communities, institutions, jewish celebrations etc.
Other schools, will leave comments and questions.
Students create video tours of their synagogues, communities, institutions , videos will be posted , in order to allow feedback (in various forms) from peers. Videos to be posted on dotsub.com or mojiti.com with transcript, to allow for translation.
